Walking You Through the Design Process

In 2019, I had the pleasure of presenting my design process to the American Philatelic Society (APS) about some illustration work I completed for Positively Postal.

In this video I walk through my creative process of collecting ideas, developing a design, and showing some initial mockup sketches and the final design that resulted from this process.

Whenever I get stuck on a project or feel resistance, I go back to my process. Look at things that inspire me, discern what applies to the client and project I am working on, and then making small steps of progress until it is complete.

There is an element of the creative process that feels like magic. It is hard to explain where the ideas or thoughts come from but it is often described as being in a creative flow state.

I hope you enjoy this video of my process.

I had the pleasure of presenting my process for illustrating some postage stamp designs to the American Philatelic Society, here is the replay!
